Your first day of a new job is like your first day of kindergarten. Your so excited to meet the other classmates, you have your spiffy new backpack all ready to go, and your eyes are wide open with anticipation. Also — if you were anything like myself you threw a tantrum in your front yard until your mother took you back inside so you could put on what you wanted to wear (true story) I have been plotting what I am going to wear my first day of work this summer. You don’t want to be too bold, to bright or over stated if the office is a subtle one. You don’t want to look boring or dull either if you are dealing with the fashion industry. Don’t play it safe but don’t go overboard. Here is what I am thinking about wear. My tibi horatio skirt  (on sale now at shopbop!! and at tibi.com if your a 0 or a 6!…it does run kind of big I purchased the 4, purchased here in Columbia at VanJean) with the Jcrew mini gingham button down tucked in with the sleeves rolled. As I was looking for the link to the above shirt there were many other shirts I would pair with my horatio skirt for work. Like this cotton paisley button down. Or what about this polka down button down. Stripes and dots….I love them together. I might even pair it with this chambray top. I love denim on denim so why not denim on navy. Another coat/top  is the horatio jacket as seen on Olivia Palermo (mildly obsessed with her right now). Or the horatio easy top on sale at tibi.com! As you can tell this Tibi skirt has an endless amounts of options to wear with it. Anyways enough about the tops I’d also pair the outfit with a pair of neutral strappy heels. The shoes paired above are a wee bit out of my budget but I would love these sandals with a methacrylate heel to pair with…well everything. Zara has the neatest shoes at the best prices. But…if you really like a pair you need to buy them asnap because they are gone so fast. I had been eyeing the black court heels (pictured here on my blog) with a methacrylate heel and before I knew it they were taken down. :( I also would love to pair the all horatio outfit with these  studded heels. These are a must for my summer wardrobe. If you don’t want to wear heels all day bring these ballerina metal cap shoes to work with you. I love metal as an enhancer, accessory, shoe or whatever it may be.   A large carryall is also beneficial  to carry folders, papers, phones, Ipads, extra shoes, sweaters etc. A pair of classic or statement sunnies will do ya good and keep the sun out of your precious eyes. As for accessories you really can’t go wrong with a big statement necklace or even a dainty addition. As for the bangles…..go all out. Pile it all on. The more the merrier! -xx Reid

As summer quickly approaches I get more and more excited to be returning to NYC. This entire semester I have been doing interviews, sending resumes, and working as hard as I can to secure I spot up in the city. I won’t settle for Columbia, Greensboro, or even Charlotte.

I am beyond excited to be returning to Carolina Herrera. Since being in a major company like Carolina Herrera, or a fashion magazine like vogue it is very intimidating. No matter how nice the people are it is scary as hell to walk into a place like that. Especially coming from a somewhere like NC and SC our styles, trends and voice is different then in the city. I am sure it won’t take long for my friends and I to get adjusted but it will be different! Anyways…going back to Carolina Herrera is an incredible opportunity and I couldn’t be more excited.

really obsessed with these bracelets. the turquoise is by Sdot and the horse bit is by Harper. I have already inquired about getting a all horse bit bracelet made, and will be purchasing the turquoise soon. I love them!!

Recently I wrote about a couple of great bargain blazers from Forever 21. I purchased the red buttonless blazer. It turned out to be better than I expected. The Medium fits perfectly and isn’t too snug when over a long sleeve shirt. The sleeves cuff nicely or you could roll them for a more business/casual appearance. The lining is a black and white pinstripe which is a little cheap if you get up close to it…which noone is going to do. I plan on wearing this jacket with….well everything. White jeans, polka dots, stripes, I had a mint dress (similar) I planned on wearing for Easter that looked great with the red blazer over it.  I also purchased the cheetah shorts that I had been eyeing for a month or so. Initially I had wanted the orange cheetah shorts but went with the gray pair instead. It was a good move. I love them!!!! I’ve already worn them and have paired them with pale pinks, whites, and even stripes! The gray makes a neutral which makes them more versatile than most would think.  Lastly the fedora. I have been wanting a fedora for the beach so I don’t have to wear sunglasses because of coon eyes. Unfortunately F21s fedora ran a wee bit small and wouldn’t fit on my head. My roommate also pointed out that I might want to get a bigger brim on the hat. It was really awkward looking perched up on my head. It just didn’t fit but I did love it! I hadn’t planned on wearing these three different items together but once they arrived and I had them arranged on my floor I couldn’t help but to want to throw them on for the night.  How would you wear Cheetah, Red, and a Fedora? -Reid

MORE BUCK…..LESS BLAZE. but worth it! I have been ooh-ing and ahh-ing over this Tibi Cheetah Blazer. Although i’m biased because I’m obsessed with all things Tibi, I do think this is a great investment piece.  You can use animal print like a neutral. Wear it with your everyday outfits. You don’t have to wear it with solid colors, spice it up wear it with some strips. Call me crazy but I would definitely wear it with my new Horatio Skirt by Tibi.  Black…and blue, shmack and shmue. Wear the colors together..who cares! Pastels are huge right now as well. The Tibi Cheetah Blazer goes great with these colors of the season. This romper and bag are standout colors…..pair them with the Cheetah Blazer and you don’t have to overdue anything else. Jewelry, Makeup…shoes, nothing. Such an easy outfit booster. I saw this Blazer in person at Pink in Richmond, VA…Sadly it was a size 2. But I did get to feel the material and surprisingly it has a great amount of stretch to it. It is not oversized by any means but it does feel to be one comfortable jacket. It’s not a jacket that you can’t drive the car in because your afraid the back is going to split. Go ahead pick that pen up, your jacket will bend too. Anyways…..I think I have to have it. yes. -Reid

Throw on a blazer to make your outfit a little more sophisticated. Now you don’t have to browse through the black, blue, and gray suits to find a great blazer. www.Jcrew.com has tons of great jackets in all different types of materials. (LOVE this striped blazer)Colored blazers are also a great way to go a little bold. Layer a simple outfit underneath so the focus is on your jacket. I have found that www.Forever21.Com has LOADS of colored, printed, and plain blazers all under $35. (all jackets above were found there) I purchased the red blazer shown above. I plan to pair it with my Joes Jean shorts A white casual top….something like this. Or if I had a money tree I would wear it with some color like Victoria Beckhams Sunset Top. As for shoes….some standard gladiator sandals would do. If your trying to wear the heels I would wear some summertime wedges. You could do a long necklace, some simple jewelry to make the jacket be the main emphasis or go bold and wear a chunky statement piece. Also- I love the ‘boyfriend’ oversized blazer. The center pink jacket comes down to around your buttox and looks like it could be a mans jacket but its…pink! Throw this on over a cocktail dress, or a white day dress. -Reid

For some reason, as I was browsing www.NastyGal.com I was drawn to this dress. I didn’t know what it was at first, but I think I have figured it out. It reminds me of the fruit punch outfits my mom and friends moms use to put us in when we were tots. The spandex shorts with melons on them with a T shirt with a watermelon patch smack in the middle adorned with some dirt/popsicle stains. I miss those summer days where we would hopscotch over to the nearest Kelly’s Kids trunk show and get to pick out our flashy outfits with matching headbands. Maybe thats where my love for colors started? Anyways. I love this dress. If I was going to Carolina Cup would I wear this?? Yes. I don’t even know if I would wear a belt with it……I like the juvenile feel to it. Will I be purchasing it? Probably so. Will I wear it all summer? I think so. Go over and check out NastyGal.com……they have some cheap cute clothing. But watch out sometimes it can be a miss. I ordered a couple of things and the fabric was so cheap I couldn’t put it on my body without the fear of breaking out in hives. I am a little dramatic so give it a go. With skirts adorning bold and bright patterns but in a soft and comfortable fabric you can throw it on for any occasion. Need to dress it up a little? Not a problem. Add a structured handbag and a fitted top and you’ve got yourself looking a little bit sophisticated.  Also - Love wearing maxi skirts with a tucked in shirt but hate have to constantly keep it tucked in, but don’t want to wear those body suits because of awkward wedgies? Splendid has you covered. The Tee is attached to the maxi skirt which comes in 3 bold colors. What a great way to stay cool and comfortable. Maxi skirt a little to long? During the day try a kitten wedge. They add a little height, still stay casual and comfortable. Way to long??? A good classic espadrille should do the trick. These Open Toed sandals by RAS come in three different colors, and have a ankle strap for support instead of the sometimes awkward lace up the leg ribbons that I can’t seem to find flattering on anyone. -Reid
